Experience of the Week: Fox and Franz Twin Glacier Scenic Flight

What is the Experience?
Enjoy a scenic flight with Glacier helicopters over some of the most dazzling ‘ice architecture’ of any glacier in the world. The 30 min flight will get you up close and personal with the ice and land you on snowfields. Expect great photo opportunities and a chance to throw a few snowballs, breath in the clean alpine air and take in some stunning alpine views.
Where is it located?
Glacier Helicopters is located on the Main Road -- State Highway 6 -- of Franz Josef township. The flight will depart from their offices. Note: State Highway 6 is the main highway to Franz Josef from either Wanaka or Greymouth.

Interesting Fact?
Franz Josef Glacier was first explored by geologist Julius von Haast who named the 12km glacier after the Austrian emperor.
Fox Glacier is slightly longer at 13km and was named after New Zealand’s Prime Minister from 1869 to 1872 Sir William Fox.
