Experience of the week: Sail Lake Rotoiti with Pure Cruise

Wooden pier at Lake Rotoiti

What is the Experience?

Located just outside of Rotorua, Lake Rotoiti is almost completely surrounded by native bush. Tranquil and secluded, it looks and feels utterly remote - and is a great way to escape civilization, without actually escaping civilization (you get what we mean).

An ideal way to explore this natural playground is by boat - and you can't go past the Pure Cruise ‘Tiua,’ a 53-foot luxury catamaran. Choose to relax inside the spacious saloon, or take in the spectacular views from the large outside deck. If you’re more the ‘hands on’ type, take the helm as the crew set sail.

Highlights of this trip include visiting the lake edge thermal pools, swimming through glowworm caves and indulging in a classic kiwi barbeque lunch. A must-do experience for those wanting a little adventure with a touch of class.

Where is it located?

Rotorua is approximately 3-hrs from Auckland and Pure Cruise is located in Mourea, Okawa Bay on Lake Rotoiti just off State Highway 33.

Who would enjoy this?

Lake Rotoiti tours New Zealand can be enjoyed with friends, family or a romantic evening trip with your loved one. Nothing like cruising beautiful Lake Rotoiti while taking in the beautiful surroundings on a luxurious vessel.

Fine Tours Factoid?

The original Maori name for Lake Rotoiti is actually Te Roto-whaiti-i-kite-ai-a-Ihenga-i-Ariki-ai-a Kahumatamomoe (the small lake discovered by Ihenga).
